The victim was reportedly shot by a group of individuals who arrived at the scene in a car in the Vettumakakai Khalil area. Acting on intelligence gathered during the investigation, officers attached to the Kalutara District Crime Division arrested a 36-year-old suspect in the Walagedara area of the Welipenna police division on the morning of June 7.
Further inquiries revealed that the suspect is also wanted under several outstanding warrants issued by the Magistrate’s Courts of Matugama, Kalutara, Tissamaharama, Walasmulla, and Morawaka. Kalutara South Police are conducting further investigations to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the crime.
