According to police, the child had just got off a school van and was crossing the Rambe–Melsiripura road when he was hit by a lorry travelling towards Melsiripura. The boy sustained serious injuries and was initially admitted to Polgolla Hospital before being transferred to Kurunegala Hospital for specialized treatment.
Despite medical efforts, the child succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. The lorry driver has been arrested, and Pansiyagama Police have launched further investigations into the fatal accident.
