28 arrested in Ambalangoda Party raid; Drugs and illegal cigarettes seized

Police have arrested 28 individuals, including three women, during a raid on a party allegedly organized through Facebook and other social media platforms in Ambalangoda.

 The operation was carried out by officers attached to the Ambalangoda Police Station, with assistance from the Special Task Force (STF), following intelligence reports regarding the gathering.

During the raid, police recovered 225 milligrams of cocaine, 8 grams and 125 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “Ice,” and 2 grams and 400 milligrams of cannabis. A quantity of illegal cigarettes was also seized during the operation.

The arrested suspects, aged between 18 and 44 years, are residents of several areas including Batapola, Uragasmanhandiya, Balapitiya, Homagama, Beruwala, Ambalangoda, Meetiyagoda, Wathugedara, and Ahungalla.

According to police, investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the event, the source of the narcotics, and the extent of the suspects’ involvement.

The suspects are expected to be produced before the relevant magistrate's court, while Ambalangoda Police continue further inquiries into the incident.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to combating drug-related activities and monitoring gatherings suspected of violating the law.
