Turkish investors explore opportunities in Sri Lanka during talks with Foreign Minister

A business delegation representing Türkiye’s Penthol Group and Ameron Energies met with Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister, Vijitha Herath, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (5) to discuss potential investment opportunities in the country.

During the meeting, representatives of the Turkish companies said they had learned about the investor-friendly environment created under the new government and the ease of carrying out investment projects without significant obstaclee delegation noted that many Turkish investors are interested in investing in Sri Lanka and that the purpose of the visit was to explore available opportunities across various sectors.

Minister Herath welcomed the growing interest among Turkish companies in Sri Lanka’s trade and investment landscape and highlighted opportunities in the energy, tourism, pharmaceutical, construction, and mining sectors. He particularly emphasized investment prospects in the energy sector, stating that Sri Lanka has become an increasingly attractive destination for investors.

The Minister also outlined Sri Lanka’s strategic location and recent policy reforms aimed at protecting investors, while providing details on the benefits and opportunities available through the Colombo Port City project.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions form part of Sri Lanka’s broader economic diplomacy efforts to support the country’s development agenda.
