According to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU), the programme will be carried out in 74 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions spanning 14 districts, with a focus on areas identified as having a high risk of dengue transmission.
The NDCU stated that support from the Sri Lanka Police and the country's armed forces will be enlisted to strengthen inspection and mosquito control activities during the three-day campaign.
Health authorities have urged the public to actively participate by inspecting and cleaning their premises, removing stagnant water sources, and eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites.
The NDCU further warned that strict action will be taken against individuals and property owners who fail to maintain clean surroundings. Officials noted that red notices will be issued to premises found to be conducive to mosquito breeding, while legal action may also be initiated against repeat offenders and those who disregard public health regulations.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that community participation remains essential in preventing dengue outbreaks and called on the public to cooperate fully with inspection teams during the special programme.
