Rs. 30.5 M cash bag snatched outside state bank in Horana

An individual has allegedly snatched a bag containing approximately Rs. 30.5 million in cash and fled while the money was being prepared for loading into an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at a state bank branch in Horana, according to Sri Lanka Police.

Police stated that the incident occurred today (03) when a bank employee was transporting two bags of cash through the rear entrance of the bank. During the transfer, a suspect reportedly approached, forcibly grabbed one of the cash bags, and escaped from the scene.

The stolen bag is said to have contained around Rs. 30.5 million in cash intended for replenishing an ATM.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been established, and police have launched an investigation to trace and apprehend the individual responsible.
