The Court of Appeal has decided to take up for examination a revision application filed by Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, challenging a ruling issued by the Colombo High Court.

The petition seeks to overturn the High Court’s determination that a conspiracy-related charge brought against him under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act could proceed.

After reviewing the submissions and facts presented before the court, the Court of Appeal granted leave to move forward with the matter and scheduled the petition to be considered on June 16.

The decision was issued following an extensive review of the arguments presented during proceedings held before the Court of Appeal today at The Court of Appeal.
