The Government has decided to extend the rental allowance provided to families whose homes were damaged or destroyed by landslides and floods triggered by Cyclone Ditwah and who remain without permanent accommodation.

The financial assistance programme was introduced to help affected homeowners secure temporary housing while reconstruction work on their residences is carried out.

Under the latest decision, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved extending the allowance period by a further three months. As a result, eligible beneficiaries will now receive the support for a total of nine months instead of the previously approved six-month period.

The extension is expected to provide continued relief to displaced families as they work towards rebuilding their homes and resettling in permanent housing.
