Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially announced the national player contracts for the 2026-2027 season, selecting a pool of 46 players. The newly issued contracts will be effective for a one-year period, running from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.

According to the cricket governing body, the selected players have been divided into six distinct categories: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and a Central Contract category. SLC stated that the categorization was meticulously decided based on several key metrics, including player performance, consistency, fitness, long-term potential, and the overarching strategic requirements of the national teams across different formats. The primary objective behind these contracts is to provide the athletes with the vital structural support, resources, and stability required to perform at the highest international level, while simultaneously fostering the long-term development of the sport in Sri Lanka.

The 46-member list features prominent senior figures and regular mainstays, including Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dinesh Chandimal, Wanindu Hasaranga, Pathum Nissanka, and Charith Asalanka. The board has also retained key bowling assets such as Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Dilshan Madushanka, and Prabath Jayasuriya, ensuring a strong core remains locked in for the upcoming international calendar.

A notable highlight of the 2026-2027 contract cycle is the inclusion of fresh talent into the national system. Seven players have earned their maiden national contracts, namely Kamil Mishara, Lasith Croospulle, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Isitha Wijesundera, Wanuja Sahan, Dilum Sudeera, and Tharindu Rathnayake. SLC extended its congratulations to all contracted cricketers, offering a special welcome to the new inductees, noting that their inclusion reflects the board's ongoing commitment to rewarding domestic performance and nurturing a robust talent pipeline.
