With a proud history spanning more than six decades, the IDB has played a leading role in the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and remains a key institution in Sri Lanka’s industrial sector.
Mr. Hewage is a seasoned professional with nearly two decades of experience in banking and finance, business strategy, marketing and sales, entrepreneurship development, and sports tourism. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Personal Secretary to the Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development. He also contributed as a member of the team that developed the SME Nexus National SME Strategic Framework.
In addition, he serves as a member of the institutional transformation leadership team supporting the establishment of the proposed Entrepreneurship and Industry Transformation Authority (EITA), an initiative aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka’s industrial and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Throughout his banking career, Mr. Hewage held several senior positions at hsbc.com and ndbbank.com, specializing in retail banking, SME business development, and strategic management. He is recognized for his contributions during NDB Bank’s transformation from a development bank into a leading commercial banking institution.
Mr. Hewage has also earned widespread recognition in entrepreneurship development and executive coaching, helping thousands of professionals and entrepreneurs enhance their capabilities and leadership skills.
