The Minister made these remarks while participating in the opening of a new “Samurdhi Suwa Bojun Hala” in the Matale District under a nationwide initiative aimed at improving the livelihoods of low-income families.
The newly opened establishment launched under the Samurdhi Suwa Bojun Hala programme.
Addressing the event, Dr. Pannila noted that the Department of Samurdhi Development is also making a significant contribution towards supporting and developing small and medium-scale entrepreneurs across the country.
He further stated that the government intends to establish 100 “Samurdhi Suwa Bojun Hala” centres by 2026 as part of efforts to accelerate the economic empowerment of vulnerable and low-income communities.
