The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory warning of strong winds and rough sea conditions around parts of Sri Lanka's coastal waters.

According to the notice, the advisory is effective from 4:30 p.m. on May 30 until 4:30 p.m. on May 31.

The department stated that wind speeds could increase up to 60–65 km/h at times in the sea areas extending offshore from Mullaitivu to Chilaw via Kankesanthurai and Mannar, as well as from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

These sea areas are expected to be very rough at times due to the strong winds.

The Department of Meteorology has urged the fishing and maritime communities operating in these waters to remain vigilant and exercise caution regarding the prevailing weather conditions.

Authorities advise fishermen and seafarers to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and follow official safety instructions.
