The National System Operator (Private) Limited has requested all rooftop solar panel owners connected to the national grid to temporarily switch off their solar power systems until 3:00 p.m. today (30).

According to the operator, the measure has been introduced to support the stable operation of the national electricity grid during the Vesak festival period.

The National System Operator stated that electricity demand remains lower than usual due to holiday-related reductions in consumption, requiring careful grid management to maintain system stability.

The request applies specifically to grid-connected rooftop solar installations and is described as a temporary measure.

Authorities have urged solar power users to cooperate with the directive to help ensure the reliable operation of the national power network throughout the Vesak holiday period.
