According to railway officials, the additional services are being introduced to facilitate the large number of commuters travelling to Anuradhapura as well as devotees attending the State Vesak Festival at the historic Middellawala Purana Raja Maha Viharaya in Matara.
The special train operations are expected to ease passenger congestion and provide more convenient transport options during the festive period, when travel demand traditionally increases across the country.
Railway authorities urged passengers to plan their journeys in advance and follow instructions issued at railway stations to ensure smooth travel arrangements.
