Magnitude 5.0 earthquake strikes northern China

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck Tokson County in Turpan, located in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC), the tremors were recorded at 14:55 Beijing time on May 29.

The epicentre was located at 42.20° north latitude and 88.22° east longitude, with a focal depth of 20 kilometres.

No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been released so far.
