“Aswesuma” Payments for Elderly Beneficiaries to Be Credited Tomorrow

Welfare Benefits Board says arrangements have been finalised to deposit the May allowance payments under the “Aswesuma” welfare programme for beneficiaries aged above 70 into their bank accounts tomorrow (29).

According to the Board, the government has released a total of Rs. 3.49 billion for nearly 700,000 eligible senior citizens selected under the first and second stages of the “Aswesuma” scheme.

Under the first phase, Rs. 3,125,600,000 has been allocated for 625,128 beneficiaries over the age of 70.

Meanwhile, Rs. 368,315,000 has been allocated under the second phase for 73,663 elderly beneficiaries.

The Welfare Benefits Board further stated that all eligible recipients will be able to withdraw their respective allowances from their bank accounts from tomorrow onwards.
