LankaPay has officially launched the eMudhra e-Sign Remote Signature service with LankaSign, in collaboration with eMudhra Limited, in Colombo, marking a significant advancement in Sri Lanka’s digital trust and e-signature ecosystem.

The initiative positions Sri Lanka closer to a fully interoperable, secure digital economy built on globally recognized Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) standards.

The launch event also saw Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC onboarded as the first bank in Sri Lanka to adopt the new remote signature facility, further reinforcing its role as a leading innovator in the country’s banking and digital transformation landscape.

Strengthening Digital Trust Infrastructure

eMudhra Limited, a globally recognized provider of digital trust services, brings its expertise in secure digital signatures, authentication frameworks, and certificate-based solutions to the partnership. Its PKI-driven technology is integrated through its eSignature platform emSigner, enabling secure remote signing capabilities.

This global technology capability is combined with the locally governed certification framework of LankaSign, Sri Lanka’s only commercially operating Certification Service Provider. LankaSign plays a central role in enabling legally recognized digital signatures across financial institutions, corporates, and government entities.

A Secure and Scalable Remote Signature Solution

The newly introduced solution delivers a secure, scalable, and legally compliant remote signing experience tailored for Sri Lanka’s digital environment. It bridges international PKI standards with local regulatory trust frameworks, ensuring interoperability while maintaining strong compliance and security assurance.

The platform is expected to streamline digital onboarding, documentation workflows, and approval processes across multiple sectors, reducing dependency on physical documentation and improving operational efficiency.

Banking Sector First-Mover Advantage

As the first bank to implement the facility, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC is set to introduce Sri Lanka’s first remote digital signature capability within the banking sector using the integrated eMudhra-LankaSign solution. The move strengthens its ongoing commitment to customer-centric innovation, digital accessibility, and secure financial services.

Advancing Sri Lanka’s Digital Economy

The collaboration between LankaPay, eMudhra, LankaSign, and Commercial Bank marks a key milestone in Sri Lanka’s broader digital transformation journey. It reinforces the country’s shift toward secure, paperless financial ecosystems and highlights the growing role of trusted digital identity frameworks in enabling economic modernization.

LankaPay stated that the initiative aligns with its mission to develop secure, innovative, and inclusive national payment and digital infrastructure, supporting the next phase of Sri Lanka’s digital economy.
