The Department of Meteorology has issued a special weather advisory valid from 4:30 p.m. today (27) to 4:30 p.m. tomorrow, covering several coastal sea areas around Sri Lanka.

According to the advisory, wind speeds in the offshore areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota may increase up to 60 km/h. The sea conditions in these regions are expected to become rough at times.

Additionally, wave heights in the offshore waters extending from Kalpitiya to Puttalam via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota are likely to rise between 2.0 and 3.0 meters.

Fishermen and maritime communities operating in these sea areas have been urged to exercise caution and take necessary safety measures due to the expected adverse weather conditions.
