Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara issued the warrant after Samaraweera failed to appear before court when the case was taken up today.
During the hearing, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the court that the case against five individuals, including former NFF media spokesman and former MP Mohamed Muzammil, who are also out on bail over the same incident, has been referred to the Attorney General for advice.
The case relates to allegations that vehicles issued by the Presidential Secretariat to the National Freedom Front were misused.
