The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber advisory warning of high waves and strong winds affecting several sea areas around Sri Lanka until 4.30 p.m. tomorrow (27).

According to the advisory, sea areas extending from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota are expected to experience rough sea conditions.

The department said strong gusty winds of up to 60 kmph could occur in the affected sea regions, while swell waves between 2 and 3 metres are also likely.

Naval and fishing communities have been advised to remain vigilant and avoid venturing into dangerous sea areas during the advisory period.

Authorities urged the public and marine operators to stay updated with the latest weather information and follow safety instructions issued by relevant agencies.
