Minister Vijitha Herath is scheduled to depart the island today on an official visit to New Zealand and Australia, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism.

During the visit, Minister Herath is expected to hold bilateral discussions with Winston Peters and Penny Wong on matters of mutual interest and strengthening diplomatic cooperation between Sri Lanka and the two countries.

The Foreign Minister is also scheduled to meet with senior government representatives, officials, business leaders, academics, and members of the Sri Lankan community residing in both nations.

In a significant development during the visit, the official opening of the Sri Lankan High Commission in Wellington will also take place, marking a new chapter in diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

The visit is expected to further enhance bilateral ties, economic engagement, and people-to-people connections between Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Australia.
