Sri Lanka’s insurance sector is set to fully digitize all insurance-related documents in the future as part of the ongoing digital insurance card initiative, according to Dinusha Thilanka, Chairman of the General Insurance Forum of the Insurance Association of Sri Lanka. He made these remarks today (25) while addressing a special media briefing held at the Government Information Department to raise awareness about the newly introduced digital insurance card system.

Speaking at the event, Thilanka stated that vehicle owners will no longer receive physical insurance cards for their vehicles. Instead, insurance companies will issue digital insurance cards moving forward.

He further explained that policyholders will be able to access their digital insurance cards through mobile phones, websites, or QR codes.

The digital insurance cards can also be verified at any time, and the public can use the 1338 hotline for verification and related assistance, he added.
