According to health officials, 12 state-of-the-art colposcopy devices have already been distributed to hospitals this year, with an additional 6 machines scheduled for installation next month. These devices are expected to significantly improve the early detection and management of cervical cancer across the country.
Each colposcopy unit is valued at approximately Rs. 600,000, bringing the total investment for the current procurement to over Rs. 72 million. Authorities noted that the funding was allocated by the Ministry of Health and Mass Media as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen women’s health services and cancer screening programs.
Colposcopy is a key diagnostic procedure used to closely examine the cervix for signs of disease, particularly after abnormal screening results. Health experts say the new equipment will help improve accuracy, reduce delays in diagnosis, and enhance treatment outcomes for patients nationwide.
