Landslide warnings extended amid adverse weather conditions

The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has decided to extend landslide early warnings due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions across several parts of the country.

In a statement, the NBRO announced that the updated warnings will be effective from 5.00 a.m. today (24) until 5.00 a.m. tomorrow (25).

Level 2 Landslide Warnings Issued

Residents in the following Divisional Secretariat areas have been advised to remain highly vigilant under Level 2 landslide warnings:

Ruwanwella

Yatiyanthota

Ratnapura District

Kuruwita

Ratnapura

Ayagama

Eheliyagoda

Level 1 Landslide Warnings Issued

Meanwhile, Level 1 landslide warnings have been issued for the following areas, urging residents to exercise caution and stay alert.

Authorities have requested residents living in vulnerable areas to remain alert for signs of landslides, including sudden cracks in the ground, leaning trees, or unusual water flows, and to follow instructions issued by disaster management officials.
