The airline will operate the new service three times a week, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities from nearly nine hours with stopovers to approximately three hours.
Tourism industry representatives said the new route is expected to further boost tourist arrivals from India, which continues to remain Sri Lanka’s largest tourism source market.
Officials also pointed to the growing outbound travel demand from Gujarat and increasing interest in MICE tourism, with Sri Lanka continuing to attract more Indian corporate events, conferences, and business travellers.
