Flooding causes closure of Katunayake–Minuwangoda road at Naikanda

The Police Media Division has announced that the Katunayake–Minuwangoda Road has been completely closed at the Naikanda area due to severe flooding caused by the prevailing adverse weather conditions.

Police have requested motorists and the public using this route to make use of alternative roads until further notice.

According to the statement, vehicles traveling from Colombo via the Expressway towards the Kurunegala Expressway through Katunayake are advised to use the alternative route via Ja-Ela and Minuwangoda.

Similarly, vehicles traveling from the Kurunegala Expressway towards Colombo through Katunayake can also travel via Minuwangoda and Ja-Ela.

In addition, for vehicles arriving from the Gampaha area, police stated that motorists can travel through Minuwangoda and Seeduwa using the Minuwangoda–Ja-Ela Road as an alternative route.

Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution due to the ongoing bad weather and possible flooding in surrounding areas.
