Pallegama Hemarathana Thero granted bail by Anuradhapura magistrate’s court

The Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate’s Court today (22) granted bail to Pallegama Hemarathana Thero, the Atamasthanadhipathi monk who had been arrested and remanded in custody.

The monk was produced before court by the Superintendent of the Colombo Remand Prison in connection with an order issued by Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate Siyapath Sasidu Wickramaratne on May 15.

After considering the matter, the Magistrate ordered the release of the monk on two personal bail bonds of Rs. 5 million each and a cash bail of Rs. 100,000.

The court further warned that the bail order would be revoked if the bail conditions are violated or if any attempts are made to influence witnesses.

In addition, the court imposed an overseas travel ban on Pallegama Hemarathana Thero.
