The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) reports that more than 950,000 tourists have visited the country so far this year, highlighting a steady recovery in the tourism sector.

According to official data, a total of 951,742 international arrivals were recorded from January 1 to May 17. The highest number of visitors came from India, with 221,953 tourists, making it the leading source market during this period.

Significant numbers of arrivals were also recorded from the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, and China, reflecting continued interest from key international markets.

In addition, the SLTDA noted that 75,465 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka between May 1 and May 17 alone.

However, the data also indicates a noticeable slowdown in daily arrivals during April and May, compared to the stronger performance seen in January, February, and March, suggesting a dip in short-term tourist inflows despite the overall positive growth trend.
