The operation was carried out yesterday (19) by officers of the Kalutara South Police in collaboration with National Transport Medical Officers.
Police said drivers and conductors operating passenger transport buses within the Kalutara South Police Division were subjected to testing during the operation, leading to the arrest of nine suspects suspected of using intoxicants while on duty.
The suspects, aged between 35 and 57, are residents of Payagala, Yatiyana, Dodamgoda, Thebuwana, Meegahatenna and Kalutara South areas.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Kalutara South Police.
