The ceremony was held on Monday (18 May 2026) at the Istana Negara (Royal Palace) in Kuala Lumpur, where High Commissioner Perera formally presented his Letter of Credence during an official audience at the Dewan Singgahsana Kecil (Throne Room).
During the meeting, the High Commissioner conveyed greetings from Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka, extending wishes for the King’s good health and for the continued peace and prosperity of Malaysia.
In response, King Sultan Ibrahim conveyed his greetings to the Sri Lankan President and the people of Sri Lanka, while reiterating the longstanding friendship between the two countries since 1957.
The King noted that Malaysia and Sri Lanka have made consistent efforts to deepen cooperation in key sectors including trade, economy, and defence. He also highlighted that recent high-level exchanges between the two countries reflect a strong mutual commitment to further expand bilateral cooperation.
High Commissioner Perera expressed Sri Lanka’s readiness to elevate engagement with Malaysia across multiple sectors through sustained diplomatic dialogue and closer collaboration.
The King also extended his best wishes to the High Commissioner for a successful tenure in Malaysia.
Earlier, upon arrival at the Royal Palace, High Commissioner Perera was accorded a General Salute by the Regiment Askar Melayu Diraja (Royal Malay Regiment), the ceremonial guard of Malaysia’s royal household.
