The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has moved swiftly to address concerns raised by the Medical Faculty Student Action Committee, following discussions held at the ministry yesterday (18).

Acting Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Hansaka Wijeyamuni summoned representatives of the committee for talks in the afternoon, after reports emerged that the group was planning a protest in Colombo over several unresolved issues.

During the meeting, student representatives presented concerns related to the recruitment of newly qualified medical graduates for internship training, delays in issuing appointments, and the need to expand health services, including medical staffing.

Officials also reviewed a broader set of issues raised by the delegation affecting the health sector.

The Minister assured that the matters raised would be referred to the relevant authorities and further discussions would be held with stakeholders to determine appropriate follow-up actions.
