A special traffic management plan will be in effect around the parliament grounds today (19) in connection with the national war heroes’ memorial ceremony scheduled to be held this afternoon near the war heroes’ monument.

According to police, vehicle movement will be restricted from 3.30 p.m., with Colombo-bound traffic being diverted from Polduwa Junction and entry into Colombo controlled from Kiyannam Junction. Authorities will implement alternative routes depending on the situation to ease congestion in the surrounding areas.

Under the alternative traffic arrangements, vehicles leaving Colombo via Parliament Road will be directed through Polduwa Junction, Battaramulla, Palanthuna, and Kiyannam Junction. Vehicles entering Colombo from Kiyannam Junction will be rerouted via Palanthuna and Battaramulla.

Vehicles approaching from Rajamalwatta via Bodhiraja Mawatha will be guided towards the Battaramulla main road and allowed to proceed through designated routes.

Parking arrangements for buses and trucks have also been announced. Heavy vehicles will be parked along the stretch from Japan Friendship Road Junction to Kimbulawala Junction, and from the Ceylon Electricity Board area on Japan Friendship Road to Pelawatta Junction.
