Legal action looms over alleged disruption at War Heroes’ Day rehearsal

Legal action is expected to be initiated against a group, including former parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa, over allegations of obstructing activities during a rehearsal for the National War Heroes’ Day Commemoration held today (18).

According to police, the incident reportedly took place during preparations connected to the state commemoration rehearsal, where the group is alleged to have disrupted official proceedings and interfered with arrangements being carried out by authorities.

Police stated that investigations into the incident are currently underway. Authorities further noted that appropriate legal measures will be taken against those responsible based on the outcome of the inquiry.

No arrests had been announced at the time of reporting, while officials continue gathering statements and reviewing evidence related to the alleged obstruction.
