Sri Lanka Clinch CASA Rugby Sevens Title in Uzbekistan

The Sri Lanka national rugby sevens team emerged champions of the inaugural Central and South Asia Rugby Sevens (CASA 7s) tournament after defeating India national rugby sevens team 31-10 in the final played in Tashkent.

Sri Lanka delivered a dominant performance throughout the tournament and completed the campaign unbeaten. The Tuskers took control of the final early, leading 14-5 at halftime before extending their advantage in the second half to secure a comprehensive 21-point victory.

During the group stage, Sri Lanka recorded convincing wins against Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan and hosts Uzbekistan.

The Sri Lankan side defeated Kyrgyzstan 54-5, Mongolia 43-5, Pakistan 41-0 and Uzbekistan 29-7 before overcoming India in the championship final to lift the historic title.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka women’s national rugby sevens team also emerged champions after recording a dominant 27-0 victory over Kazakhstan women’s national rugby sevens team in the Cup Final.

The victories secured by both the men’s and women’s teams marked a highly successful campaign for Sri Lanka Rugby at the regional tournament held in Uzbekistan, with both national sides finishing as champions.
