The drafting process of the revised “Protection of the State from Terrorism Act” (PSTA) bill has been completed, according to the committee responsible for preparing the legislation.

The committee stated that the revised draft has now been forwarded to the Legal Draftsman’s Department for further legal processing.

The proposed bill is expected to be submitted to the Minister of Justice within this month.

The PSTA draft was prepared by an expert committee headed by President’s Counsel Rianzie Arsekularatne.

Public consultations on the proposed legislation were also conducted in February this year as part of the drafting process.
