The selling price of the US Dollar has exceeded Rs. 331 against the Sri Lankan Rupee, according to the latest daily exchange rate chart issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

As of today (May 15), the buying rate of the US Dollar was recorded at Rs. 323.53, while the selling rate stood at Rs. 331.15.

This marks the first occasion since December 5, 2023, that the buying rate has crossed Rs. 323 and the selling rate has exceeded Rs. 331, signaling renewed pressure on the local currency amid ongoing market fluctuations.

Financial analysts note that movements in the exchange rate could have implications for import costs, fuel prices, and overall inflation in the country. Meanwhile, businesses and consumers are closely monitoring further developments in the foreign exchange market.
