The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) says it has been closely monitoring the investigation into the alleged child abuse incident involving a minor girl in Anuradhapura since the case was first reported, amid growing public attention and concern.

In a statement issued to the public, the Authority emphasized that it is committed to ensuring that the law is properly enforced and that the rights of the minor victim are fully protected throughout the legal process. The NCPA stated that it is prepared to take all necessary measures, whenever required, in the best interests of the child to ensure justice is served.

The Authority further clarified that no external influence or pressure has been exerted on the NCPA regarding the implementation of the law or the protection of the victim’s rights.

The NCPA also noted that it will continue to take appropriate regulatory and supervisory actions to ensure that the relevant investigations and legal proceedings are carried out properly.

Addressing public concerns, the Authority urged citizens not to create unnecessary fear or public unrest over the matter, warning that unwarranted agitation could potentially interfere with the judicial process and the administration of justice.

In addition, the NCPA confirmed that the victimized minor girl is currently being housed safely at a special protection center, where her security and wellbeing have been ensured under strict protection measures.

The statement was issued by the National Child Protection Authority in response to the increasing public discussion surrounding the case.
