Sri Lanka and Belarus Strengthen Cooperation in Health Sector

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, who is currently on an official visit to Belarus, says discussions were held with Belarusian Health Minister Aliaksandr Khajayeu on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health sector between the two countries.

In a statement shared on X ( Formerly) the Foreign Minister noted that a Memorandum of Understanding on healthcare cooperation was signed during the visit, marking a significant step towards expanding collaboration in medical education, healthcare services and medical research.

Minister Herath further stated that he also visited the Belarusian State Medical University in Minsk and met with the rectors of the medical universities in Vitebsk, Grodno and Gomel.

According to the Minister, more than 3,000 Sri Lankan medical students are currently studying at these universities, highlighting the growing educational ties and long-standing partnership between Sri Lanka and Belarus.
