LPL 2026 to begin on July 17 with Jaffna vs Galle clash

The Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 is set to commence on 17th July with an exciting opening clash between Jaffna and Galle, the Champions and Runners-up of the 2024 season respectively. The inaugural match will be played at the SSC Grounds in Colombo, starting at 7.30 p.m.

Ahead of the tournament opener, fans can look forward to a spectacular opening ceremony at the SSC Grounds, marking the official start of the much-anticipated cricket festival.

The LPL 2026 tournament will run from 17th July to 8th August and will be played across four venues: SSC, Colombo; RDICS, Dambulla; PICS, Pallekele; and RPICS, Colombo.

The tournament is organized by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the owner of the Lanka Premier League, in partnership with The IPG Group, the event rights holder.
