The Ministry of Energy has launched a special compensation program to honour employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board who have opted for voluntary retirement under the institution’s restructuring process.

The program, held under the theme “A Proud Service - A Safe End,” aims to recognize employees who have rendered distinguished service to the board over many years.

According to the Ministry, financial compensation amounting to Rs. 8.5 billion will be awarded to 1,898 employees who are retiring voluntarily under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS).

The Ministry stated that the initiative was organized as part of the ongoing restructuring efforts of the electricity board while ensuring appreciation and support for long-serving employees leaving the institution.
