Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath says he held successful bilateral discussions with Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov during his official visit to Belarus.

In a statement shared on X ( Formerly Twitter) Minister Herath said the discussions focused on expanding cooperation between Sri Lanka and Belarus in several sectors, including political affairs, trade, education, culture and people-to-people relations.

He further noted that both countries agreed to strengthen diplomatic engagement through regular political consultations and by convening the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation later this year.

Minister Herath also highlighted that Sri Lanka and Belarus are commemorating 25 years of diplomatic relations, describing it as a reflection of the longstanding friendship and mutual commitment to enhancing bilateral ties between the two nations.
