The Road Development Authority (RDA) stated that the decision was taken following severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall in the area.
Authorities have also advised motorists to use alternative routes and exercise extra caution while driving in the affected region.
The RDA further noted that a decision regarding the reopening of the road will be made once the water levels recede.
