Showers or thundershowers will occur at other places of the island after 1.00 pm.
Heavy falls above 100 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, and Uva provinces and in Ampara, Batticaloa, Galle and Matara districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The low pressure area located northeast of the Sri Lanka, still persist. The system is likely to move nearly northwards during next few days. It is currently located near 10.1N and 83.5E. Therefore, wind speed and rainy condition can increase over the sea areas around the island during the coming days.
The naval and fishing communities are requested to be attentive to the future forecasts and bulletins issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard.

Winds will be southwesterly. Wind speed will be (25-35) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.
State of Sea:
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle will be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island can be moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
