Over 46,000 Tourists Arrive in Sri Lanka So Far in May

A total of 46,606 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka so far this month, according to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

The data shows that India remains the leading source market, with 18,533 arrivals accounting for 40 percent of total tourist arrivals in May.

In addition, 3,472 visitors arrived from China, while 2,517 tourists came from the United Kingdom. Another 2,441 tourists arrived from Australia and 1,873 visitors were reported from the United States.

The SLTDA further noted that Sri Lanka recorded 132,919 tourist arrivals during May 2025.

With the latest figures, the total number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka in 2026 has risen to 922,883.

Of the total arrivals recorded this year, 208,451 visitors were from India, 91,362 from the United Kingdom and 74,628 from Russia.
