According to security sources, the group includes 35 Indian nationals and 20 Nepalese nationals. The suspects were taken into custody during a special raid conducted by the Special Task Force (STF) Southern Province Special Operations Unit, in collaboration with local police, acting on intelligence received from the Boossa Army Camp.
Authorities stated that the suspects had been staying at a hotel in Dodanduwa and were reportedly carrying out illegal cyber-related activities while maintaining a low profile to avoid attracting attention from nearby residents.
During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered a significant number of items believed to be used in the alleged criminal activity, including nearly 200 mobile phones and 22 laptop computers.
The arrested individuals, along with the seized electronic devices, have been handed over to the Hikkaduwa Police and the Computer Crimes Investigation Division for further investigations.
Officials say inquiries are ongoing to determine the full scale of the operation and any potential international connections linked to the case.
