Azusa Kubota, resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sri Lanka, says the provision of computer systems to Registrar officials is a significant step toward digital transformation.

Speaking at the ‘One Registry’ program event held yesterday (07), she said a strong Digital Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system is essential for effective governance.

She explained that such a system ensures every individual is formally recognized and provides reliable data for national policy decisions.

“This is not just about paperwork; it is about giving dignity to every life in Sri Lanka,” she said.
