The advisory will remain valid until 11.30 PM today ( 11).
According to the Department, thundershowers with intense lightning are likely to occur in the Sabaragamuwa Province, Central Province, Uva Province, North Central Province and Eastern Province in evening.
The warning also applies to the districts of Kurunegala District, Mullaitivu District, Mannar District and Vavuniya District.
The Department further stated that strong gusty winds could occur temporarily during the thundershowers.
Residents have been urged to remain cautious and take appropriate safety measures to reduce the risk of damage caused by lightning strikes.
