Chandrasena was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a residence in Kollupitiya last Friday, shortly after authorities issued a warrant for his re-arrest in connection with a high-profile bribery investigation.
Speaking to the media at the venue, Rajapaksa said he came to honour “a person who had served the country.”
He also confirmed that he has received a notice from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) to appear before the commission and stated that he will comply with the request.
The final rites of Kapila Chandrasena are scheduled to be held today at the Borella General Cemetery.
