Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the United States is expecting a response from Tehran on its latest peace proposal at some point today.

Iran announced that it seized an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman and directed it to the country’s southern coast. Aljazeera reported.

Overnight, the US and Iran traded naval attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, with the US also bombing two Iranian ports.

US President Donald Trump described the attacks on Iranian targets as a “love tap”, telling US broadcast media that “the ceasefire is going. It’s in effect.”

Israel continues to attack southern Lebanon, killing several people today, including a paramedic.
