Several houses in Nugeyaya village, Varunagama area of Wellawaya town in the Monaragala District have been inundated due to the overflowing of the Kirindi Oya, DMC reported.
According to reports, around 30 houses are currently under water following the rise in water levels.
Meanwhile, three spill gates of the Alikota Ara Reservoir have been opened by two feet each to manage the increasing water volume.
